Banner Outside the Church – Religion Is No Spectator Sport

As Unitarian Universalists, we are committed to deeds, not creeds. We engage with organizations around the world, partnering with local and international communities to make the world we live in a better and more equitable place for all. We strive toward being an active presence in our local community of Summit, in neighboring areas, as well as national and international efforts at improving our world. Our goals are to encourage you, the members and friends of this congregation, to engage directly in outreach and social action.

Our outreach efforts range from taking a stand on peace and justice issues to being advocates for marriage equality and women’s health. Many of our efforts are led by our Social Action Committee.

“The central task for the religious community is to unveil the bonds that bind each to all. There is a connectedness, a relationship discovered amid the particulars of our own lives and the lives of others. Once felt, it inspires us to act for justice. It is the church that assures us that we are not struggling for justice on our own, but as members of a larger community. The religious community is essential, for alone our vision is too narrow to see all that must be seen, and our strength too limited to do all that must be done. Together our vision widens and our strength is renewed” – Rev. Dr. Mark Morrison-Reed
